Reinstate the Stockport Metroshuttle bus

Reinstate with urgency the no. 300 Metroshuttle free town centre bus service.

Why is this important?

• The Metroshuttle bus, until its withdrawal in April 2019, provided high frequency bus access 7 days a week to much of the town centre including the bus and train stations, market and Central Library. It was of great value to elderly and disabled passengers.

• Stockport Council has declared a Climate Emergency. It and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority have obligations in respect of carbon emissions reduction and air pollution reduction. The Metroshuttle helps in meeting these objectives as well as reducing traffic congestion. This was a highly valued service which should be built upon and not scrapped.

How it will be delivered

Request Councillors who have stated in their election manifestoes, support for reinstatement of the Metroshuttle bus service, to present the petition to the Mayor of Stockport at a Council meeting.
