Reverse the National Insurance Hike – Protect Small Businesses and Jobs!
We, the undersigned, call on Chancellor Rachel Reeves to reverse the damaging increase in employer National Insurance contributions. This policy has led to a sharp decline in hiring, with a 39% drop in job vacancies, crippling small and medium-sized businesses and stalling economic growth.
Since July 2024, businesses have faced unprecedented financial strain, making it harder to expand, hire staff, and remain competitive. The government must recognize the harm this policy is causing and take immediate action to support businesses, protect jobs, and restore economic stability.
We demand an urgent U-turn on this policy and call for Rachel Reeves to resign, as her economic decisions continue to weaken the UK economy and threaten the survival of small businesses.
Key Facts to Include:
- 39% drop in hiring since the NI hike.
- Businesses like Timpson facing an extra £12m in costs annually.
- Travelodge reporting financial losses due to the NI increase.
- Small businesses struggling to retain staff and remain profitable.
- Further tax hikes planned, worsening the situation.
Call to Action:
Sign this petition to demand immediate action from the government. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy—without urgent intervention, many will collapse, leading to job losses and economic decline.
Why is this important?
Why is this important?
Small businesses cannot stand idly by and watch our businesses and watch our livelihoods go under. The NI hike to Employers' is closing businesses down and preventing those still struggling to continue from growing their businesses. This is shameful and no government should be allowed to carry on with policies that are devastating to our economy. Our small business is suffering like thousands of others.
