Roll out “Scores on the Doors” disabled accessibility ratings accross the UK

The Coalition of Disabled people wants “Scores on the doors” disability accessibility ratings put on doors of bars, restaurants etc across Wales, but I think this should be rolled out across the whole of the UK. We should have a system where it is easy to identify the most accessible places in our towns and cities. We want to highlight those places that are not so disabled friendly to encourage change for the better. The signs that should go on the doors would be similar to the food hygiene ratings with a 0 to 5 * rating, at the top would be an establishment that has really gone the extra mile to be accessible including training staff on being aware of dealing with disabled customers and adult sized changing bed and hoist in bathroom. A 0 would be not at all disabled friendly.

Why is this important?

If bars and restaurants displayed accessibility ratings:

It would be easier for disabled people find establishments that meet needs. I believe disabled people should have the same choices and options as everyone else.

It would highlight a lack of facilities in areas of towns or cities and hopefully drive change to make places more accessible.

It would make people think about disabled access and facilities when they build public places such as bars and restaurants.
