Save Benjamin Court!
The reablement unit at Benjamin Court, Cromer closed in July 2023, following discussions between Norfolk County Council and the NHS, but there was no public consultation. This means that people in Cromer and North Norfolk are losing a highly valued service for those who leave hospital but need convalescence, rehabilitation and home assessments.
Delays in discharging hospital patients are causing huge backlogs in the NHS, as well as concerns about patients being discharged in poor health and soon returned to hospital.
NHS bosses have not committed to any plans to re-open Benjamin Court as a much needed reablement unit for North Norfolk, and the future of the site is not clear.
Please sign this petition to call on the NHS to keep Benjamin Court as a community resource for all those who need extra help and rehabilitation after leaving hospital.
This petition has been created by the North Norfolk TUC Group who want to help our community by fighting the threat to local services posed by this situation
Why is this important?
Cromer and North Norfolk has lost a highly valued service for older and vulnerable people who leave hospital, assessing their needs prior to moving back to their own homes or other settings.
Delays in discharging patients from hospital are causing huge backlogs in the NHS, added to which are concerns about patients being discharged in poor health and returned to hospital within 7 days.
How it will be delivered
We will deliver this to both the County Council and the NHS.
