Save Bristol Centre's Trees!

We the undersigned, request in the light of the report commissioned by the Bristol Tree Forum that Bristol City Council look again at the proposals to replace the Plane trees on the Centre and seek to retain them.

Why is this important?

The report demonstrates that the proposals do not specify enough new trees to compensate for the loss of biodiversity and carbon capture provided by these mature healthy trees. We also note that the proposals to replace the existing trees with the same number of smaller ones are not in line with the Ecological Emergency Action Plan and the proposed new Local Plan. Removing the mature trees will also change the character of the Centre, taking away shade and making the environment less appealing. We call upon Bristol City Council to retain the existing trees.

The Bristol Tree Forum promotes the retention of existing trees as part of their campaign, https://bristoltreeforum.org/a-manifesto-for-existing-trees/

Please sign the petition and make Bristol Council adhere to their own planning rules and save these mature trees. We need to retain their biodiversity, the carbon dioxide captured, and the character of the Centre. Bristol is a wonderful city and the trees and green spaces are a vital part of it. Please sign and help us save the Centre's trees.

How it will be delivered
