SAVE MATISA MARKET!
Allow Matisa Market to continue operating from the Studio at Hill House in Grundisburgh.
Why is this important?
After two years of operating Matisa Market from my Studio Showroom at my home, Grundisburgh & Culpho Parish Council have raised a complaint with East Suffolk Council and I have been advised that my Studio Showroom and online business are unauthorised in terms of planning.
The Grundisburgh & Culpho Parish Council seem to think I am operating a shop but, as my clients know, Matisa Market is not a retail shop open to the general public; my Studio Showroom is by appointment only booked online through my appointment booking system or by messaging me directly (which restricts volume and number of clients coming to my home) and I am available for these appointments only a couple of days a week. A large proportion of my business is done online via Instagram and my e-commerce and also I go to client's homes to do my Wardrobe Encouragement Service.
The East Suffolk Council have expressed concern that Matisa is 'a shop in the countryside' away from meaningful transport facilities and that their overall objective is to channel all new retail development to town centres and district centres in order to try and reduce unnecessary car journeys. As many of you may remember ā Matisa Market began in a traditional retail shop setting on the high street in Woodbridge but it failed after less than a year due to spiralling costs and lack of foot fall and parking. This is what led me to re-pivot my business back to an outbuilding at my home and drive my business through Instagram and my website and by appointment for my clients. My business is thriving and the uniqueness only assists in its success; I have wonderful personal engagement with my clients and mine is very much a relationship business. I have nurtured a strong, loyal following of clients who buy repeatedly from me and also bring me their pieces to re-sell on their behalf time and again.
I have submitted an application for planning and the outcome of my application remains uncertain. This petition is designed to provide support to my application and allow my customers - many of whom are local ā to demonstrate how much support exists for Matisa Market.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and if you would like any further information then please do not hesitate to contact me on 07494 517984 or at [email protected].
