Save & Preserve Our Old Streetlights

We need to preserve our history and save some of the old streetlights. A lot of these lanterns can be fitted with led bulbs making them environmentally friendly and more efficient. This could help avoid costly replacement and the old streetlights being taken away and lost forever. I myself have asked that I be given some of the old lanterns (not the posts or bulbs) so that we have some of our history preserved but have been told that they are unable to do this as they contain harmful substances, although this is true in some cases a lot of them are perfectly safe and those with Mercury bulbs can have those removed to make them safe. We are always too ready to destroy what we have in the case of what we call progress and then when it is too late we regret it later down the line realising what we have lost forever. Please sign my petition to ask that these lamps are kept and maintained where they are and if not that I be allowed to keep and preserve some of the old lanterns for future generations.

Why is this important?

This is important because I want to preserve the old lanterns for future generations and to save them from being scrapped and lost forever.
