Save the Royal Mile Market !

UPDATE: 23/09/16
We are VERY pleased to inform you all that the Royal Mile Market is staying in the Tron Kirk for another year!!!!
This is due mostly to a fortunate twist of fate! The battle may still be on-going... but we hope to hang on in there though, and be around for a few years to come!!

We would all like to thank each and every one of you!! Thank you for supporting small businesses in Edinburgh.
We hope you will all be able to pop in to the Tron Kirk soon and see what you have helped to save!

Please do not take away the jobs and livelihoods of local Edinburgh businesses and traders!

Why is this important?

The Royal Mile Market is Edinburgh's only permanent, 7-day, indoor marketplace. It is home to over 15 local businesses, brands and traders, all of whom are based entirely in Edinburgh.

The market hosts:
Artists, Designers, Muralists, Jewellers, Weavers, Musicians, Printers, Historians, and many more....

Now, a multi-million pound, London-based company have put in a bid to take the Tron Kirk away from us to use as a 'gift shop'.

As the current tenants, we have the right to renew our lease at the current market rate before any other offers are considered - which we want to do!

PLEASE, Edinburgh Council, don't take the livelihoods away from small-scale, Edinburgh-based businesses. We NEED the Tron Kirk.
Between us we employ over 50 local people on top of providing a unique shopping destination and tourist attraction. In addition, many of our profits go directly back into the local economy.

We have nowhere else to go.

Thank you,

The Traders of the Royal Mile Market

The council decided not to renew our current lease and to put the Tron's lease on the market for higher bids.
This is a terrible decision for us. If you want some more information on how the meeting went then read this blog post by Council Member, Gavin Corbett of the Green Party:

We are still fighting this though so please keep signing and spreading the word!
