Save Universal Infant Free School Meals

No cuts in central government funding of Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSC). To increase funding in line with cost of living.

Why is this important?

Feeding children at school is a mainstay in ensuring they have at least one nutritionally balanced meal a day. In England, universal free school meals are minimal; provided to only young children. Good nutrition is essential for growth and development including cognitive. In London, 1.5 million adults and 400, 000 children are food insecure. This is the tip of iceberg for the communities in which they live. Teachers feed hungry children and doctors see malnourished children. The absolute minimum is to ensure the youngest children are guaranteed one solid meal a day. It is divisive to argue that only the poorest children should have free food. This 'others' children, stigmatises and teaches inequity. We need unity to ensure all children have the right to food.
