Save Whiston's Greenbelt

Please stop the plan to build thousands of houses on Whiston's greenbelt land, and protect the few green spaces we have.

Why is this important?

Knowsley Council are planning to sell off thousands of acres of beautiful greenbelt land between Whiston, Cronton and Huyton, so that Redrow Homes can build thousands of houses. We suggest that Knowsley Council would be far better to use brownfield sites first, rather than sell off our valuable land for developers to make a fat profit from.

The infrastructure around the area cannot cope with such a huge increase in houses. There are no jobs to support the increase in people, and public transport/road links are already full to bursting point. This development will also cause problems for people trying to register with GPs, schools, local amenities, local hospital services, as well as an increase in demand for services from the council itself.

We cannot afford to lose one of our last remaining green spaces and all of the wildlife living in it. This will be crippling for the local area, as well as the areas around it such as Prescot, Cronton and parts of St Helens.

Once it's gone, it's gone.

Huge thanks to all of you who have signed and shared our petition so far. We have over 3,000 signatures, which have been printed out and will be delivered to Knowsley Council in the next couple of days in time for their deadline for objections to their plans. This is only the beginning of our fight though, and we'll be keeping this petition running until the Greenbelt is safe from profiteers. Please keep sharing the link and asking your friends and neighbours to sign up too.

Keep fighting!
