Selly Oak Constituents: Not In Our Name

Selly Oak constituents urge you to address the humanitarian catastrophe by calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza Strip to prevent further loss of innocent lives.

The surge in violence between Israel and Hamas since October 7 has resulted in civilian casualties in Israel and Gaza. However, no injustice can justify another and we are gravely concerned at the disproportionate escalation of violence in Gaza and the West Bank amid ongoing airstrikes and a siege that has cut off access to supplies of food, clean water, medical supplies, communications, humanitarian aid and fuel.

We want the government to prioritise the preservation of human life above all else. To seek a ceasefire and also to address the root cause of the current conflict by promoting dialogue and advocating for the end of Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

We call for an immediate ceasefire including an end to the blockade of Gaza and collective punishment and for a lasting political solution to be negotiated.

Why is this important?

To condemn acts of violence including the attacks on October 7th and take a stand against the brutal, inhumane and unlawful killing of innocent Palestinian people including women and children. Not in our name. Ceasefire now.
