Social Care Costs
Pay the real cost of Social Care for people being cared for at home. The current cost of care has been established at £16 an hour. Essex County Council pays £11.27 an hour, leaving clients to pay the difference.
Why is this important?
It is important because it fails to connect with reality. It also means that people delivering the service are expected to do an important job for a low wage and are not seen as an essential resource for keeping people in their own homes.
I care about this matter as a retired member of a caring profession (nursing). It is time society at large accepted that caring costs money whether done by highly trained professionals or less qualified individuals.
