Social Housing for MP's Instead of Second Homes

Dear Sirs,

Please institute with immediate effect social housing / apartments within London for all MP's to make use of during out of constituency visits to Westminster.

This rent free housing will remove the need for mortgages on expensive second properties and avoid MP's accidentally claiming expenses at the taxpayers expense. The 'no frills' accommodation will save the taxpayers millions.

These apartments will only be available to MP's who live over an hour's commute outside of London as there is clearly no need to house somebody who lives within that distance.

The Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer will keep their official residencies in Downing Street. MP's who wish to purchase and live in a second property funded out of their own pocket with no financial aid from the taxpayer funded expenses may do so.

Why is this important?

- To save the country money in these times of austerity. The accommodation will be less of a financial burden on taxpayers than accidentally claimed expenses for second homes.

- MP's will be accommodated more in line with the level of accommodation that most of their constituents who they represent enjoy.

- It will display a new level of transparency which the government desperately needs.

- It will really show that MP's and the people they represent really are 'in it together'.

- The housing should be within close proximity to the Houses of Commons to enable MP's to make best use of their valuable time.
