Solar panel import surcharge
Remove the import surcharge on solar panels. This was imposed to reduce "Chinese dumping of solar panel overproduction"
Why is this important?
An import surcharge was imposed on solar panels some years ago, ostensibly to protect solar installation companies (presumably by trying to prevent people doing their own installations; the installation companies claimed this would damage their business (!))
The government is removing the subsidies provided for renewable energy installations. My belief is that if they're doing this then the surcharge on solar panel imports should also be removed.
If the government is genuinely committed to the introduction of renewables then the import surcharge should be removed, especially as the government is drastically reducing subsidies on renewables.
The surcharge was aimed primarily at Chinese imports... somewhat odd as the building of new nuclear power stations is now going to involve Chinese companies to a great extent.
