Stop Speeders On Ringway Road Now!
The speed issue on Ringway Road is getting worse as we speak. Through my time of living here, this road has had two of my cats run over as well as many other peoples pets have also been hit by cars and killed due to the high speeds from drivers along the road. I am concerned that one day it will be a person that gets knocked down and killed.
We call for a meaningful consultation with local residents to put in more effective traffic calming measures on Ringway Road. There needs to be either a speed camera or in addition to larger and higher speed bumps implemented on Ringway Road in order to reduce the speeds of the cars at the set 20MPH speed limit as clearly sign posted. I'm am also very concerned that one day a car will lose control and go into the front of someone's house or run a pedestrian over or some wildlife causing serious injuries.
One of the residents of Ringway Road has actually had a car drive into her front porch and the car ended up upside down in her front garden. Their Husband was also nearly knocked over as well as their dog due to a car over taking a bus as the driver let him cross which is another reason the issue needs to be addressed. The motorbikes that pass down here are careless and swerve from lane to lane while doing "wheelies".
There are currently 3 or 4 sets of speed bumps on this road which isn't enough and they really don't do anything. They are just small hills in the road. I would appreciate it it you would sign this petition even if you don't live on this road as it is a major problem for residents here.
Thanks,
Jamie Yearsley-Ward.
P.S. If you can share this with people you know and/or on social media that would be great.
Why is this important?
It is important as there could be some very serious injuries if a speeding car looses control and how it can not only put people walking at risk but the driver of the vehicle as well. This is also a worsening problem and when motor bikes drive past at speeds in the night it disturbs residents and this road should also be a motorbike free zone for that reason.
How it will be delivered
This will be submitted to many people who could help resolve the issue. Examples include,
the Manchester city council, the local Wythenshawe campaigner and Neighbourhood officers. We plan to have this handed to the council by the end of February but it all depends on how long it takes. it would be great and helpful if you publicise this to you friends, family and anyone helpful you may know.
