Impose new legislation for the use of eco-friendly takeaway coffee cups
To the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs - Michael Gove:
The UK throws away 2.5 billion takeaway coffee cups every year, but sadly less than 1% get recycled.
The treasury’s proposal to introduce the 25p latte levy will only pass the buck onto consumers. It’s not fair that consumers have to pay the price, when companies can do more to fix the problem.
Big brands like Starbucks, Costa and Nero need to clean up their act and introduce recyclable alternatives, as sustainable solutions already exist!
We want legislative change to enforce the use of eco alternatives by 2020.
This will massively reduce landfill waste and when some thing can recycled, it will save on economical funding of the cups we currently just throw away. We need more sustainable materials to avoid wastage.
To help our environment.
