To: Crufts

Step up Crufts. Zero tolerance of abuse.

I'm calling on Crufts to strip the the handler Rebecca Cross of Crufts Best in Show title for what I believe is unacceptable treatment of her dog and show the world that Crufts has zero tolerance of abuse.

Why is this important?

Crufts claims to be the biggest and best dog show in the world. For this reason it is in a powerful position to send a message to the world that Crufts operates a policy of zero tolerance of abuse and takes appropriate action in every single case to ensure that all dogs are treated with compassion, respect and dignity at all times. I believe that the handler of the Best in Show Winner 2015 did not do this, despite several requests from Crufts judges. Their attempts to address this on their official Facebook page today is not enough. I believe she broke the rules and should be stripped of the title.

Amazing responses to the various petitions so far but very poor broadband most of the time here - it's been driving me mad! 38 degrees support team have suggest I link you with the other 38 degrees petition which is getting a fantastic response - over 107,000 signatures so far!! You can sign that one too, as I have. Thanks again for taking the time to do this. The message is certainly getting through with headlines such as this from the BBC:

In it they say 'the dog must be the main priority.' If this is the case then surely it is equally important to demonstrate that abuse and rough handling will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Their responses so far have been very disappointing. Please don't make excuses Crufts. Please do the right thing. Remove the title and demonstrate that Crufts operates a policy of zero tolerance of abuse.

Hi everyone, Thank you SO MUCH for signing and hopefully sharing the petition with your friends and family. We really have an opportunity to make a difference and effect change for the better. It is not ok to mistreat or mishandle dogs or any animals ever and as 'the largest and best dog show in the worl,' Crufts is in a great position to send this message to the whole world. Thanks again.
