Sterilised and SUFFERING

We want recognition that there are symptoms associated to female sterilisation and that the Goverment will introduce immediate research into this. We are asking that all women considering the operation should be patch tested prior to detect any allergic reaction to the clips used. Women that have suffered long term side effects should be offered a free reversal. GP's need to be educated to the effects of sterilisation and need to support women through PTLS better.

Why is this important?

Three years ago I thought that sterilisation was the best decision for me and my family but it turned into my worst nightmare possible. Like so many other women, I have been suffering in silence and it is destroying our lives. The pain, discomfort, depression, family upset (and so much more that we have to live with every day might have been avoided had we been advised correctly initially. Because PTLS is not yet a recognised health issue, women are not getting the medical help and support needed. Woman are getting into debt taking out loans to pay £1000's of pounds on private surgery for clip removal or having reversals so they can live a normal life.

Personally my life hit an all time low where I considered extreme solutions to end it once and for all. It was a shared post a friend showed me that made me realise others were having similar issues with sterilisation and I started to research. This condition is real, so many women have contacted me to share their story. Other countries recognise it yet the UK remains blind to it. We ALL deserve quality of life and all we ask is that condition is researched properly, supported with dignity, explained more clearly initially and symptoms dealt with after professionally.

How it will be delivered

I feel so strongly about this that I shall deliver the petition in person to No 10 Downing Street.
