Stop 1700 houses being built on our green belt

Reduce the number of houses that will be built
Do not build on our green belt
Rethink your plans

Why is this important?

1. The additional population 1700 homes would create will require and additional school for its children. The current NEW Halebank nursery/infant/junior school is already over capacity only a year after it was built with some local families already being refused entry for their children and cannot be expanded due to its location within a COMAH area, as such an additional school would be required for the additional children but this would not be possible because of the COMAH restriction. For your information Halebank has 22 company's within a 4 mile radius of the existing school that either processes or transports extremely hazourdous chemicals, some within a few hundred metres.

2. The existing poor air quality due to heavy industrial traffic within the village's will increase substantially due to an enourmous amount of additional vehicles.

3. The enviromental impact to wildlife alone will be substantial, every year a huge flock of Canada geese use both the fields of Halebank Road and Halegate Road to rest and feed, their favoured habitat would dissapear along with that of many other wild birds, numerous wild animals and bats.

4. 33% of the Ditton wards remaining green belt will dissapear.

5. The 10,000 homes proposed in this DALP for Halton from central goverment should be reduced to take into account the huge house building programme Halton has already undergone in recent years and is still currently undertaking, below is a list which is not exhaustative of housing developments within Widnes alone. As stated at the meeting Widnes is quickly becoming 1 huge housing estate. Could you take this issue up with the relevant minister within the houses of parliament to reduce the DALP figure?
Page Lane
Peel House Lane (Ex Fairfailed High School site)
Derby Road (2 large phases)
Upton Rocks (Huge amount of houses)
Heath Road (Ex St Maries site)
Plumley Gardens
Foundry Lane (Ex Asda site)
Norlands Lane
Wilmere Lane
Lunts Heath Road
Cock and Trumpet Site
Cronton Road (estate next to 6th form college)
Ditchfield Road (estate Next to vetinary surgery)

6. Brownfield site options within Widnes appear to be being overlooked. Many people think this is down to the cost of remedial work to clear the land of contamination as opposed to clean greenfield land which is ready to build upon, a much cheaper option.
If this is the case as we will investigate further, this fact adds insult to injury, your predessors allowed the large chemical companys of ICI, Albright & Wilson, McKecknie, Laporte etc... etc... to despose of their waste chemicals by burying them in the ground in Widnes, thus mass contaminating large areas where YOUR constituants live and the air YOUR constituants breath. Can you investigate funding to clear such sites within central goverment and rid the town of contaminated land and free brownfield site for development, a much more acceptable DALP.

7. The proposed greenbelt land is active farmland worked every year and never redundant, the farmers who work this land (Mr Webb & Mr Lunt) had not been notified of HBC's proposal which is an absolute disgrace.

8. An expert from Manchester in contamination highlighted at the meeting that Widnes is unique on a national scale with regard to contamination and as such this should be taken into account by central goverment when they issue statistics which dictate the DALP figures for each council, could youn take this up with the relevant minister within parliament to reduce the DALP figure for Halton.

9. Halebank has very recently relinquished 80 acres of greenbelt for the construction of the Alstom plant, do you not think it is immoral and unfair for the council to continue to develop our quickly deminishing greenbelt? Not 1 single local person has been employed at the Alstom plant, local employment was in the statements that was part of its planning proposal. Another underhand tactic.

10. Your ward councilors Mr Sean Osbourne, Mrs Marie Wright and Mr Joe Roberts were in attendance at the meeting and all voiced their 100% opposition to the proposal, we trust that you will agree with YOUR constituants and YOUR own ward councillors.

11. You should be aware of the unique and very strong community spirit in both Hale and Halebank especially given the times we live in, a spirit which is perfect to bring up our children in (I have 3 children all under the age of 13), community values will be lost forever if this outragous proposal were to go ahead.
