Stop Bristol's 5G rollout with immediate effect
The other petition to Bristol which we made with 38 degrees triggered a full council debate and a working group on the subject. Thanks.
We, the undersigned Bristol residents, require that our public officials from West of England Combined Authority and/or Bristol immediately cease the rollout of Fifth Generation mobile networks in Bristol and the wider area, both from larger masts and from smaller masts and antennas. We require that the population, as well as the local flora and fauna, is not mandatorily exposed to the imposition of radiofrequency microwave radiation from 5G. This includes those with existing health conditions, infants, children, and pregnant women.
We also ask that safety regulations around radiation from existing masts are tightened in the light of independent scientific evidence and warnings from public health experts about both 4G and 5G.
We believe that wireless radiation has been proven in thousands of peer-reviewed studies to cause harm including neurological and cardiac effects, genotoxicity, cancer, endocrine effects, nervous system damage and other bioeffects. We do not therefore consent to the placement of close-proximity antennas or of greater emissions from existing masts which have already been shown to cause harmful bioeffects below permitted levels.
We do not accept the Public Health England guidelines. We believe due to conflicts of interest they do not take the independent scientific consensus into account.
Why is this important?
The residents of Bristol have not been consulted on the rollout of Fifth Generation mobile networks and have not given their consent to its deployment. They have not consented to increased emissions from existing masts - already considered to be a health hazard by independent experts - and they have not consented to or been informed about the emission of microwave radiation from lampposts, street antennas, or monopoles.
Thousands of peer-reviewed studies we believe show that electromagnetic radiation and radio frequency microwave radiation from mobile networks causes harm, including neurological disorders, DNA damage, cell damage, nervous system damage, cancer, brain tumours, heart tumours, infertility, genotoxicity and increased superbug resistance. Wireless radiation has been shown to cause damage to all living things, including mammals, sea life, plants, and insects including bees. Children absorb up to 60% more radiation than adults which leaves them especially vulnerable. People with existing health conditions may be particularly at risk.
Two major 2018 studies have shown clear evidence of a causal link between EM radiation and fatal brain gliomas, which new research shows have doubled in incidence in England during the last two decades. Appeals have been made by scientists to the WHO, PHE and ICNIRP to update safety guidelines but have been repeatedly ignored and have been widely accused of having conflicts of interest. The 5G Appeal, signed by 244 scientists and doctors, states that the current ICNIRP ”safety guidelines” are obsolete.
As council members you have a duty of care to your citizens to protect them from harm. You can no longer ignore the urgent warnings from hundreds of scientists and doctors who declare this technology to be unsafe. Exposing the citizens of Bristol and its wildlife mandatorily to greatly increased levels of electromagnetic radiation 24/7, including high-frequency microwave radiation, is unethical, inhumane, and in breach of all ten points of the Nuremberg Code of Ethics concerning human experimentation. Enabling the mass proliferation of monopoles, masts and antennas across our city is a violation of our health, privacy and property rights.
5G has been banned in some of the most powerful and progressive cities in the world including Brussels, Geneva, Vatican City, and parts of Florence, Australia and the USA.
A ‘smart city’ is not a ‘green’ city. 5G technology will consume significant amounts of energy, contrary to global climate goals, and emissions will add to existing environmental pollution.
