Stop Halsall Homes/Design Development Ltds development being built off Tamerton Foliot Rd Plymouth

This campaign has ended.

Stop this development from happening

Why is this important?

Halsall homes are proposing an 'affordable' (which they are not based on average wage) housing development on top of the horse field on Tamerton Foliot Road destroying protected woodland and endangered wildlife between and including Quarry Wood and Whitleigh Wood PL6 Plymouth. Quarry Wood backs onto my and 50 other homes in the Looseleigh Derriford area. This wood houses a stream that leads down to the river Tamar, countless beautiful trees, plants, including oak trees, holly, and species of wildlife. This wood and field is home to owls, buzzards, birds of prey, deers, pheasants, smooth newts, badgers, foxes and bats, hedgehogs and slow worms, which are endangered and therefore protected by laws, to name a few. This wood used to be part of Whitleigh Wood Nature Reserve before the road was built, concluding that it houses the same protected and endangered trees, plants and species of wildlife that the original boundaries of the Nature Reserve now protects. This area is tranquil and beautiful. We do not want to look out and see houses instead of trees at the end of our gardens. We don't want the added noise pollution. We do not want the stream destroying the end of our gardens because of the added water run off from the development. I want to protect our environment, trees and wildlife. I do not want the added pollution and congestion on already busy roads, and additional pressure on surrounding schools and gp surgeries. How can you cut down all those beautiful trees that go up along the road and destroy the homes of our wildlife for the sake of houses? We need to protect our trees, we need them to breathe! We need to protect our wildlife. We need to stop this development from happening, so please sign this and help fight it. Thank you

Hello all,I'm a bit late with this message,as the building work has been going on for a little while now,but I'd like to thank the hundreds of you who took the time to sign and share this petition, sadly we lost the fight against Halsall homes and their development, these 'affordable' homes appear to be starting at 325k,but more importantly another lovely green area has been concreted over, and many trees have been chopped down, the wildlife will suffer, and has already,as I've been made aware that badger sets had been filled in on the field, this makes me very sad,its very disheartening to know that even when you're fighting to save our environment these people always seem to win,but I hope it won't stop anyone from at least trying to save our green areas, woodland and wildlife in the future, thanks all again

I've partially changed the title of the petition because the applicants name has stayed the same but the company now appears to be design development as opposed to halsall homes as it was

https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/news/plymouth-news/controversial-plan-plymouth-houses-refused-2680320 and how are they even allowed to apply again when the lead levels were deemed to be hazardous to human health??

2019-11-17 13:53:34 +0000

All they've done is address that they know there's lead, that there's flood risk, that trees will be cut down, and wildlife will be killed for their proposal 😔 they've not done anything to suggest how they could possibly rectify any of these issues, they've just thrown the same application in again, and true to form pccs planning page always seems to have server issues so it's hard to comment your objections šŸ¤”

Thank you for contacting the RSPB to report a nesting pair of Buzzards.
Under the Wildlife and countryside Act 1981, It is an offence to intentionally take, damage or destroy the nest of any wild bird whilst it is in use or being built and it is also an offence intentionally take or destroy the egg of any wild bird. Therefore for now please keep any photographs you have of the birds and nest if you have any, as evidence just in case the tree is attempted to be removed before the young fledge. If this does happen please report as soon as possible to a wildlife crime officer by calling 101 who has the power to investigate and take action if necessary.

We've now spotted a family of deer living in the wood and on the field, even more beautiful wildlife that would be affected if they built on the field

Theres no need to keep flattening green areas,we may need more houses, but there are other places they can build, green areas are proven to be good for mental health&physical, children love running in fields,HH said this will help with lack of housing by making them affordable, but based on their start price&the average wage theyre not, theyre just another money hungry company with no care for what this will affect as long as they make a profit by selling generic cheaply&poorly made new builds at a higher price. The price shouldnt be another green area gone, trees cut down/animals homes destroyed

The water run off from this would destroy the ends of peoples gardens, had a look in the wood yesterday, many have made their them accessible to the wood, utilising their property.the horse field currently has a makeshift rd on top of it&digging equipment, this is apparently sww doing works on the pipe.driving up TF Rd wont look the same with all those beautiful trees cut down on the left, though traffic wont be moving with all these new builds going up with no thought for traffic flow/infrastructure

Some good news from a planning officer at Plymouth city council- 'The flyer you received possibly caused a misunderstanding. The aerial photograph on the flyer shows the whole of the site. The applicant is proposing to develop only part of the land comprising the grassed area in the middle part of the site fronting Tamerton Foliot Road. The big area of woodland on the northern and eastern part of the site behind the houses would remain as woodland and would not be developed for housing. This in accordance with policy PLY46.8 of the Plymouth and South West Devon Joint Local Plan (JLP)' however, the person from halsall homes who commented in the herald said' hopefully' no trees will be sacrificed and they have 'dibs' on purchasing the wood so I don't feel we can trust hh 100%, so keep signing as a record of how many of us oppose doing anything to the woodland and I'll present it to hh for their future consideration should they be able to purchase the wood, thank you

I've just found out they also want to put a cycle/ footpath through the wood next to the ends of our gardens too, which would have to be lit so we'd have streetlamps glaring in through our windows at night, we'd be easier targets for burglary because we have open gardens into the wood, people could just stroll in or look in so we'd be losing our privacy, it would be noisy with people strolling through, the stream would be more likely to be littered and polluted, it would disrupt the wildlifes natural habitat, they wouldn't want this by their homes, I'm so angry
