STOP housing development in Wises Lane/Cryalls Lane, BORDEN, Kent
Why is this important?
Site is unsuitable. Villages in Borden Parish will be destroyed. Potential increase of Borden Parish occupancy by 70%. Limited road network to support this development. Increased traffic will make the notorious black spots on A249 and A2 even worse and lead to increase in road deaths. Will also lead to greater congestion and encourage further rat-running throughout Borden and surrounding villages. Archaeological sites and heritage buildings will be damaged or lost. Very real threat to protected species such as skylarks, bats, badger setts and other wildlife. Protected green spaces will be lost as will gap between town and country. Public will not be able to exercise, walk dogs, ramble, horse-ride or cycle. Grade 1 agricultural land (about 100 acres) will be lost as will many public amenities. Threat of local flooding. No infrastructure to support such a large development. Evidence TODAY of air pollution levels which exceed or are close to exceeding the recommended levels by WHO and EU regulations.

Delivered by hand copy of petition to Trustee of local Borden charity 'The William Barrow's Charity' for their meeting 23 Feb 2017. Delivered in person to MP Gordon Henderson to oppose the Swale Borough Council Local Plan in Parliament. Posted petition to Highways England and Kent CC Highways August 2018.
