Stop tax plans that only benefit the highest 10% of earners

Boris Johnson is planning to raise the threshold for higher income tax to £80,000 a year. We want him to take this proposal off the table.

Why is this important?

This will only benefit the highest 10% of earners and is estimated to cost the country £9 billion a year - that's around half of all the extra money that the government promised to the NHS.

The poorest 90% will pick up the bill, either directly through taxation or indirectly through the scaling back of public services.

This promise hasn't caused anything like the indignation that it should, perhaps due to Brexit and we need Boris cancel this proposal before he gets a clear mandate at the next election as it is morally disgraceful to reward those who need it the least.

The petition has been emailed to the Conservative party chairman via two different email addresses including the 'election 2019' one. So far only automated acknowledgements have been received from all parties contacted.

This petition was sent to the constituency email address of my local MP Damian Green asking for representation on Tues 7/11. As no reply has been received within a week the petition was sent to the 'leader' email addresses of Labour, the Lib Dems and the Green Party on 12/11, as well as the constituency email addresses of the leaders of major parties including Boris Johnson. However, constituency emails may not be seen at the time of an election, and as a direct 'leader' email address to the Conservative party could not be found, an online form was filled out on 13/11 asking for an email address in order for Boris Johnson to receive the petition. Watch this space and please keep signing for the time being.
