STOP TWO LORDS FROM BUILDING 10,000 HOUSES ON RURAL SUSSEX LAND

STOP TWO LORDS FROM BUILDING 10,000 HOUSES ON RURAL SUSSEX LAND

Stop two Lords who are directors of Mayfield Market Towns from building 10,000 houses on rural Sussex land turning a wildlife area into an urban, concrete sprawl.

Vast areas of countryside where many Red Listed and Schedule 1 Protected birds live, as well as other rare species of wildlife including badgers will be concreted over, ruining the countryside forever.

HS2 will be built to ferry people from the north to London. They can build their sprawl near already developed towns where houses are needed and businesses are needed up north. Or better still on their OWN doorsteps.

Why is this important?

TWO DIRECTORS ARE LORDS AND THIS, I BELIEVE, IS A CONFLICT OF INTEREST.
THERE JUST ISN'T THE INFRASTRUCTURE, LET ALONE THE WATER SUPPLY TO DEAL WITH THIS MASSIVE INVASION OF OVER 30,000 PEOPLE.

Vast areas of countryside where many Red Listed and Schedule 1 Protected birds live, as well as other rare species of wildlife including badgers will be concreted over, ruining the countryside forever.

I believe that Lord Borwick and Lord Mathew Taylor (housing ‘advisor’ to the current Conservative government) are potentially breaching a ‘conflict of interest’.

Large donations were made to the Conservative party.

Peter Freeman is a director of Mayfields - founder Argent Plc.
Donations made to Conservative party from M FREEMAN (over £500,000) of Argent plc - Co founder of Argent - Peter Freeman who is now a director of Mayfields. Mr Freeman founded the property group Argent in 1981. He is Founder, Chairman, and Non-Executive Director of Argent Group Plc.

Reasons for signing

  • Wrong development in completely wrong area of rural Sussex. Dangerous knock-on effect on local rivers and flood plains which often flood badly so that roads are closed (as happened this year). Lack of infrastructure in the proposed area; would decimate local traffic already impacting local villages; No 'new towns' should be built. Utilise existing brown field sites only, or expand existing towns if necessary.
  • Apart from lack of infrastructure ( not that I would want new roads to be built to increase the already horrendous traffic in the area) there would be a massive flood risk .. no matter what plans Mayfield have to store/ divert water ... the land simple can’t cope ... recent flooding on the fields around the area a couple of weeks ago are clear evidence of this
  • The infrastructure cannot cope with more housing. Where is the extra sewerage to go? Where are the public transport links? Where is the extra water to come from? Where are the roads to cope with more traffic needed to take people to work to the jobs outside the proposed new development? Where are the local jobs? The South East is already too densely populated.
