Stop using bearskin caps
Taxpayers' money should not support animal cruelty
Why is this important?
The MOD wrote in a letter to me that "the bearskin cap has been associated with the Guards Division since a Royal Warrant was issued by King George III in 1768 which ordered the replacing of the 'Mitre' Cap with a Cap made from the skin of a black bear." Don't you think that after nearly 250 blood-stained years it is time to end this shameful and unnecessary 'tradition'?
