Suitable parking needed for Ysgol Gymraeg Dewi Sant
Provide adequate parking for parents of Ysgol Gymraeg Dewi Sant pupils to safely drop off and pick up their children to school.
Why is this important?
The site at Ysgol Dewi Sant was approved without parking provision several years ago which was raised by local residents. Since it has been built the car park by the leisure centre in Llantwit Major has been used by parents as an effective means to safely drop off children and pick them up.
In recent weeks there have been moves to end the use of this car park for parents and in an emergency closed meeting on the 14th March 2019 the council ruled that parents were NO LONGER able to use the leisure centre car park due to health and safety reasons.
There have been no alternatives put to parents and this matter was simply disseminated in the form of a letter from the school on Friday 15th March.
Parents who are unable to walk to the school for various reasons have no viable alternative and it is simply unacceptable that this action has been decided upon without their input.
This petition is to highlight the discontent from parents and residents and identify to the council that there needs to be a suitable and safe proposal to getting our children into the local Welsh medium school without putting their safety at risk or clogging up the already haemorrhaged roads in that area.
