Support Lisa's Right to Express Herself Freely, Chalking on the Streets
This petition has been set up to support Lisa's right to freely express herself in her chalking in Glastonbury and the neighbouring areas. Lisa's basic human right to freely express herself creatively has been called into question as she has been getting harassed and bullied by the local council and police force. They have on multiple occasions waited for her to finish chalking out poems on the street (often taking hours) to then destroy her work. We would like to gain as much support for Lisa and the relentless efforts she puts into her street art/poetry by showing the local authorities that we support, appreciate and want her freedoms of expression to remain intact. We hope to reach as many signatures as possible so please share far and wide!
Why is this important?
The importance of this petition is huge as it highlights the ever increasing over authoritarian approach that local police forces and councils are currently attempting to implement. At the core this is one example of a deeper human rights issue that is currently taking place throughout the UK. If we do not stand up and let our authorities know that we demand to stay sovereign and keep our human rights/rights of expression intact for all citizens, then we will lose our rights. Now is the crucial time to stand up for your fellow brother's and sister's rights! Once we have gained a significant amount of signatures a written letter will be sent to both the Mendip District Council and also the Avon and Somerset Police Force. In this letter we will show support and appreciation for Lisa's work and demand that she faces no more harassment and is left to freely exercise her right of expression.
