Supporting Our At Risk Colleagues In Ealing Schools
Infection, hospitalisation and death rates are rising everywhere, some areas at a faster pace than others. London is now at Tier 2 ‘High Covid Alert Level’. We are concerned for our ‘at risk colleagues’ health and safety. We call upon our schools and the local authority to allow our colleagues who are ‘Clinically Extremely Vulnerable’ (CEV) or live with/care for someone who is CEV to work from home/be medically suspended on full pay.
We also ask that those in their third trimester be allowed to work from home/be medically suspended on full pay; as recommended by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
If infection rates continue to worsen to levels seen in Liverpool and Nottingham then we ask that our ‘Clinically Vulnerable’ colleagues are also allowed to work from home/be medically suspended on full pay.
We all want our schools to remain open for our pupils; however this cannot come before the safety and welfare of our ‘at risk’ colleagues. We point out that Independent SAGE recommend that all ‘at risk’ staff should be shielding.
