To: The Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak

The Prime Minister MUST attend COP27 UN Climate Summit

Climate Change is an existential threat to all life on Earth. It is the root cause of the increasing frequency and intensity of floods, droughts, storms and heatwaves. It is essential that our Prime Minister attends COP27 in Egypt in November to participate in the negotiations to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees per The Paris Agreement of 2015.

Why is this important?

We have all seen the effects of increasing temperatures here in the UK. Our weather is more volatile, as evidenced by the increasing number of floods, droughts, storms and heatwaves we are suffering. This is replicated all over the world and people are dying from the inaction, when there is overwhelming evidence of the man-made nature of the threat. We can mitigate it and adapt to the consequences, but we must act now. We need our Prime Minister to lead the UK negotiating team at COP27 and ensure the UK meets the commitments it made in The Paris Agreement.
