To: UK politicians

The system is rigged

The UK's Labour government want to scrap a tech giants tax that companies like Twitter, Facebook and Amazon pay.

They want to do this at the same time as they cut support for pensioners, the sick and the disabled.

The tech giants tax (Digital Services Tax) was introduced in 2020 and now raises up to £800 million a year.

Our political and economic system is rigged.

It doesn't matter who wins elections in the UK, the Biritsh people always end up lumped with the same thing:

-  Governing parties that give large corporations more and more power over our lives
-  A political system that ignores the will of the people in favour of wealthy and corporate interests.

We need to unrig our political and economic system. We can start by reversing policies that favour the interests of corporations over and above the interests of ordinary people.

Politicians should reject the plan to scrap the tech giants tax and reinstate support for the most vulnerable in our society.

Why is this important?

Our political and economic system is rigged.

The demands of ordinary people are continuously ignored by a political and economic system that is designed to meet the needs of the wealthy and powerful corporations, over and above ordinary people.

The consequence of this is rising fatalism and anger among ordinary people, with fewer people voting and millions turning inward and away from the news and the latest goings on in Westminster.

People are tired of a fixed political system where the goalposts are continuously moved to fit the interests of the powerful and ordinary people are left frustrated and angry.

We need to raise the cost on politicians of failing to act to unrig our political and economic system and rebuild a democracy and economic system that works for the people, not profit.
