Tougher Sentencing for those who commit acid attacks

Tougher Sentencing for those who commit acid attacks

In the past few years, there has been a rise in the number of acid attacks in the U.K. I urge that you support this petition.

Should the petition be considered by the government, there should be a further re-consideration of how acid in the U.K. is sold, who it is sold to and at what age it can be purchased.

Why is this important?

It will, hopefully deter potential attackers and future attacks. Taking drastic measures may help reduce the epidemic of such atrocities in the U.K. I hope that your signature will bring some justice to
people who have been affected .

Reasons for signing

  • The utter nastiness of the people who plot to throw acid into the faces of human beings is eating away at society, ban the substance and subject those who use it to scar and disfigure to a life behind bars.
  • Acid attacks are premeditated and are intended to cause long term physical and emotional pain to the victims. The victims require a great deal of support - probably for the rest of their lives. These attacks also result in a huge financial cost to an already stretched NHS. There is no excuse for such a heinous act.
  • The person who has been attacked will be looked upon as a freak for the rest of their lives, with no hope of improvement.
