To provide a brief statement on the sources of funding for political, economic or social think tanks and other such research groups mentioned in news items. The link between the source of income and the views expressed should be made explicit.
Why is this important?
Many think tanks interviewed or quoted in the news present themselves as independent researchers acting in the interest of the general public, when in fact the opinions and research they put forward serve the interests of a corporate rich and powerful elite.
