Unacceptable Bus Service

Anyone who stays in St Leonard’s, East Kilbride will know only too well how appalling the No.21 bus service is. It either never turns up, it’s late or early, who can tell as the service is so bad! It’s the only service available at the top of the high common road and yet we have only a service every 1/2 hour which it totally unreliable. I have had to get so many taxis just to get to work and it’s costing a fortune. So to dispel the myth that we are all so rich in St Leonard’s we don’t need a bus anymore than every half hour, totally unfounded and unacceptable.
The fares are getting more expensive by the day and the ‘service’ is getting worse by the day.
Try waiting at the town centre well you can easily wait an hour as it’s become a habit the 6.15pm and the 6.45pm frequently just don't turn up! Excuses from oh the driver is on a day off, the bus has broken down, we have no idea why ….
SPT you need to step up! Your service is deplorable, times unacceptable and your fares are horrendous for such a short journey! Why is it being pushed to use public transport when the service you provide just isn’t up to par? It’s in your hands SPT and as a local EK resident in St Leonard’s we are so fed up that this has not been addressed as a priority! Get a more frequent, reliable service back in place, every half hour is not acceptable when living at the top of the high common road you do not have a choice of buses, it’s only the 21. This must be addressed now!

Why is this important?

People are relying on the bus for work, shopping, parents with children and buggies, older people who cannot walk the distance to get their shopping and medication. People are paying for a service and not receiving it. All people want is a reliable, timely, consistent bus service to enable them to get food, medicine, meet a friend, get out of their homes to get some social time, avoiding loneliness. It’s not a lot to ask for all of the above reasons.

How it will be delivered
