We oppose the 'central and eastern river crossing' for Harlow and Gilston Garden Town.

We oppose the 'central and eastern river crossing' for Harlow and Gilston Garden Town.

The proposal put forward by the developers of the Harlow and Gilston Garden Town, runs through wetlands, across lakes and will destroy huge areas of woodland.

Why is this important?

The damage to the habitat of the wildlife in the area will be damaged beyond repair. This area is the home to wildlife such as water voles, bats, rabbits, barn owls, wood peckers, weasels, badgers, cuckoos, kingfishers, deer, raptors, foxes, newts, frogs, bees… the list is endless. The historical importance of this site has not been considered in these plans, neither has the lack of public transport and the visual impact of the project.

How it will be delivered

We will email the signatures to the council and government. Please visit the area and come and experience the beauty.

Reasons for signing

  • Wildlife is important to us all
  • The amount of development in this area is out of control, and the population growth is going to necessitate not only these new roads but others still as the current roads are already crowded going through Sawbridgeworth to the north up to and around Bishops Stortford. The South-East of England is being sacrificed so that housebuilders, landowners and shareholders who demand constant growth can make money.
  • We share our planet with all wildlife. Every habitat destroyed is lost forever, together with the creatures that live there.
