We Want Action on Cleaner Bridges

We the undersigned call on the three parties responsible for the hygiene and maintenance of the Vyne Road and Chapel Hill railway bridges, to issue a joint statement publicly committing to work together towards a resolution that does not involve litigation, but provides a solution to the ongoing problems residents experience under the bridges.

• We request that Hampshire County Council follows through on its promise to allocate £50,000 of funds from the Chapel Gate development.

• We request that Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council allocates funds in its annual budget to work in partnership to resolve the ongoing problems residents experience under the bridges.

• We request that Network Rail undertake maintenance and effective pigeon proofing to prevent pigeons roosting, clean the bridges and resolve the leaking roof.

Why is this important?

If residents do not express how strongly they feel about these issues, the three parties responsible will continue to pass the buck and there will be no appropriate action to tackle the existing risks to health and safety.

How it will be delivered

I will deliver the petition in person to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council at the council meeting on 12 December 2021.
