Western MK Needs a Bus: Connect Stony Stratford to Westcroft

Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors. Route overlay by Diego Elio Pettenò / mkweabus.defp.uk.
We're calling on Milton Keynes City Council to establish a dedicated bus route:

Stony Stratford → Fairfields → Whitehouse → Hazeley → Oxley Park → Westcroft

This 7.5 km route would take just 22–28 minutes, serve 7 stops and 4 schools, and use bus lanes already built on Barrosa Way.

The infrastructure is ready. The demand is clear. The Council has committed to expanding bus services. It's time to deliver on the promise made to western MK.

Why is this important?

Thousands of residents in western Milton Keynes are cut off from their nearest shops, schools, and services — by a bus network that simply doesn't connect them.

Whitehouse, Fairfields, and the wider Western Expansion Area were built with restricted parking, expecting residents to rely on public transport. That public transport was never delivered.

The reality today:
• No direct bus between Whitehouse and Stony Stratford — a 5-minute drive takes ~50 minutes by bus via central MK
• No bus to Westcroft's shops — a 5-minute drive takes ~45 minutes by bus
• MK Connect costs £3–6.50 per ride, doesn't run on Sundays, and can mean 30-minute waits
• Route 2, the only regular bus serving Whitehouse, is at risk of withdrawal

- The MK Chamber of Commerce has been asked to connect with Westcroft businesses

What's next:
- 100 signatures is our first target — that's when we go to our three local MPs
- Flyers are being prepared for Westcroft shops and community venues
- We're sharing the campaign with more local groups over the coming days

Know anyone in Stony Stratford, Fairfields, Hazeley, Oxley Park, Kingsmead, or Westcroft? Please share — the more names we have, the harder this is to ignore.
