ZAKARI'S LAW
Here at Zakari's Law we have three main goals;
1] For all authorities regardless of the area to be able to access vital information in respect to the families they are supporting . Hospitals, children's services, police ect..
2] A disclosure of all vital information should be shared with spouses regardless if they was a minor when they became known to authorities.
3] Once a person is known to have mental health issues they should be made to attend mandatory follow up appointments, where all agencies can access this information.

Why is this important?
September 11th 2019. Was the day my heart was broken and the day that changed my life forever.
My beautiful baby boy Zakari was murdered at 11 months old, by a man who was supposed to protect him! His own father, Zak Bennet-Eko.
As you may have read in the papers everyone is talking about the system failing Zak, how there were so many missed opportunities to intervene.
But what no one is talking about is how I was failed and I continue to be failed.
I asked the authorities numerous of times if Zak was a danger to anyone and every time I was told no! I even ran checks on him, he never showed up on anything as being a danger.
Only after my son was murdered, did I find out some of the truths about Zak. He was dangerous. He was a danger to myself, my son and at the time my unborn daughter.
No one told me how severe his mental health issues were. That he spent 18 months in a psychiatric hospital, and most importantly he was known to the police!
All because at the time he was under the age of 18.
If i would have known this information my life would be different.
To this day I am still trying to find out why he was committed for so long but his file is closed.
This is where the law needs to change.
One day I will have to tell my daughter her father killed her brother. She will have to live with that knowledge for the rest of her life and why? All because the authorities couldn't/wouldn't disclose the information that her father was a danger to us.
