Zebra Crossing at Hampole Way/Westwood Way, Boston Spa High Street

Approve the installation of a zebra crossing as above, as recommended by Leeds City Council's Traffic Engineer, preferred by Boston Spa Parish Council and already funded by Taylor Wimpey on building of Church Fields.

Why is this important?

This junction is notoriously dangerous, and is the natural exit/entrance point both from the Church Fields development and also from the three schools on Westwood Way. Many residents have experienced "near misses" and a child from West Oaks school was struck by a moving vehicle.
A zebra crossing needs to be put in place to provide a safer place for pedestrians to cross; it will also serve to punctuate the flow of traffic into the High Street and help to slow down vehicles.
Please provide this crossing before there is a really terrible incident.

Thank you to all who have signed this petition. The petition, of around 1100 signatures with paper and online combined, has been sent via email to the three ward councillors and the Highways Manager at Leeds City Council, who we are led to believe is the ultimate decision maker for this crossing.
