Do not withdraw the 34/X bus service to Braintree/Great Notley/Bocking

Do not withdraw the 34/X bus service to Braintree/Great Notley/Bocking

Why is this important?

There's been hardly or no consultation on its withdrawal and if the Council want to revitalise the High Street in Braintree, it's not going to be very helpful if no one can get there. Not everyone has a car, perhaps disabled or have children so driving isn't always an option.

The council has an obligation to provide a means of access to the local town for those old, disabled, unable to drive. If companies are still permitted to put profit before services then Braintree will become a dead town. It's bad enough that empty units are booking shops (I think we have at least 4 of them), numerous charity shops, 2 pathetically sized supermarkets and that's the only reason to visit. The council has its priorities upside down. No customers = no High Street. No public service = more parking requirements. Is there any reason to visit Braintree anymore? The rate it's going it's a dying town and it's all down to the council not promoting the correct priorities. Apparently we're a Portas Town, well other than a few posters, I don't see any appreciable difference other than multiplication and monopolisation of Tesco in the area. If you're going to build another 20,000 houses here, then you're going to have to give them a reason to come. Another Tesco or public transport won't cut it.
