THE SALDEN CHASE DEVELOPMENT WILL GENERATE CONSIDERABLE EXTRA TRAFFIC THROUGH BLETCHLEY
1) Buckinghamshire Council has granted Outline planning permission for the Salden Chase development, involving 1,855 houses on the borders of Bletchley, Milton Keynes. This is likely to be the first of three phases, with potentially more than 5,500 new homes being built on the borders of Bletchley.
2) Permission for this development was granted despite consistent and long-standing opposition from:
* Local communities in Bletchley and Newton Longville,
* The four Parish and Town councils covering the area most impacted by the development,
* Milton Keynes Council.
3) Local communities have expressed deep concerns about the significant impact of this large development on:
* the neighbourhoods surrounding the development,
* our local services,
* traffic volumes, noise and air quality.
4) Salden Chase will put considerable extra traffic on the Buckingham Road and the A421 (H8) grid road. These are already busy roads, and the extra traffic will increase congestion, noise and air pollution.
WE NEED A BYPASS
* The planning application for Salden Chase already safeguards a corridor for the provision of a link road.
* Plan MK supports a link between the A4146 and the H8, and generally supports link road routes on the edge of Milton Keynes.
* Milton Keynes Local Transport Plan states that the council supports, in principle, the Bletchley Southern bypass

The February 2022 Levelling Up White Paper promises funding for accelerated road schemes.
We call upon the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities to provide funding for a Bletchley Southern bypass in line with the Levelling Up White Paper.

Why is this important?
A Bletchley Southern Bypass would:
1) Allow through traffic from Salden Chase (1,855 homes in Phase 1 alone!) to bypass the A421 and Buckingham Road.
2) Help to reduce the traffic congestion, noise and air pollution problems our communities are certain to face as a consequence of the Salden Chase development.
