GIVE VICTIMS THE RIGHT OF APPEAL

To change the appeal system in our courts and give victims the right of appeal as well as offenders. Both parties should be able to put forward a reasonable debate into why they should or in a victims case should not be handed a lesser sentence. Victims voices often go unheard and victims and their families have to cope on their own whereas the offenders have rights given to them that affect everyone involved. In cases where the victim is deceased ( murdered) a family member of the victim should be able to take on the appeal for that person

Why is this important?

Victims and families are failed daily by our dated justice system which is aimed solely at the offender, forgetting the victim exists or existed and went through the trauma personally. Families of deceased victims need to have their say, only then can justice be accepted after all avenues are explored. The people of scotland do not believe in our justice system the way it stands now and families faced with court should be able to speak out
