Install red light cameras at Hockerill traffic lights

Install red light cameras at Hockerill traffic lights.

Why is this important?

Jumping a red traffic light is defined as an offence under section 36 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 in that "a person driving a vehicle 'who fails to comply with the indication given by the sign is guilty of an offence.'" and is punishable by an endorsement of up to 3 penalty points and/or a fixed penalty notice.

Almost every local driver will have witnessed some sort of red light jumper here, some will have witnessed a near miss or two, some may have actually witnessed of the various crashes that have happend at this junction.

Local road users should not be expected to have to wait for a fatal incident before something is done to improve the safety of this junction. With the no pedestrian crossing here and only one island on one the four roads it is only a matter of time before someone is killed crossing the road here while trying to dodge a red light jumper.
