The Belfast Telegraph reported last year:
The former Metropolitan Police officer says he was told by a detective that the investigation into the ring, which was also claimed to include an MP, was shut down for national security reasons.
“I was in a car with two other vice squad officers. … The detective said he had just had a major child abuse investigation shut down by the CPS regarding a royal and an MP,” he told the Sunday Mirror newspaper.
“He did not mention names, but he said the CPS had said it was not in the public’s interest because it ‘could destabilise national security’.”

This business is far from finished. There are a number of high-profile people who are chasing justice. There was no evidence offered in the Bishop's defence. Apparently some of the details given do not appear to stand up to scrutiny: if the young girl's allegations are true they could even have pointed to someone else being the culprit. The CofE appears to be stonewalling over the way it dealt with the whole affair.

GODDARD INQUIRY "THROWN INTO DISARRAY" FOLLOWING RESIGNATION, LEAVING INVESTIGATION OF THE DIOCESE OF CHICHESTER UNINVESTIGATED
THE Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse in England and Wales (IICSA) was thrown into disarray on Thursday night after the New Zealand judge brought in to chair it, Justice Lowell Goddard, resigned….Among the 13 separate investigations launched by the Inquiry, is one into the Anglican churches in England and Wales…it will study “the experience of the Diocese of Chichester, where there have been multiple allegations of sexual abuse, and numerous investigations and reviews.”

As someone who has come to faith recently from a non-Christian upbringing, and married to a wonderful God-fearing strict Eastern European lady, I have a unique perspective on this.
I have come to the conclusion that the C of E is a corrupted organisation that is highly political, and does not put God and God's love at the centre of everything it does.
Now any church associated with the C of E, or any church with a minister trained through the C of E, is compromised.
The organised church is collapsing because its a vassal of the establishment (media, government, educational establishment)...and state security services - Ed
