Keep the Mount Pleasant bus as an hourly service

To keep the bus service as an hourly service

Why is this important?

It's not fair to leave the older generation on the estate without the freedom of this hourly service. Often they only need to pop into town and then return on the hourly bus. To have to wait 2 hours for a return bus is unacceptable.

Reasons for signing

  • This bus service is a vital link from Rogerstone , especially for the older people who live on the estate who do not drive.
  • I use the bus service regularly and it is a well supported service. If I pop into Newport and miss the Rogerstone bus back, I have to walk up the hill from Cefn Road carrying bags I find it very difficult as I have back and neck problems. I'm sure I'm not the only person with this problem.
  • The bus service is a vital link to the city, hospitals and shops for many residents of Mount Pleasant estate, namely the retired and non drivers. The journey on this route is unacceptably long and running every 2 hours. I have witnessed senior residents struggling up the hill from Cefn Road, laden with shopping because they have been forced by Newport Council to catch the main route buses to Tredegar or Risca .
