Keep the old prince of Wales pub from being demolished! NO TO MORE FLATS (South Ockendon)
STOP!!! the building being demolished and developed into flats! The old public house, has been in the village of south ockendon for many years! Instead of building more properties in the area, WHAT ABOUT CONSIDERING A PLACE FOR THE COMMUNITY TO MEET AND EXPLORE NEW IDEAS? Needing to support an income, I have decided A CAFE /BAKERS, with the opportunity of jobs for locals and more importantly to hear ideas of how more jobs can be created to support the community of SOUTH OCKENDON. THE VILLAGE SIDE OF OCKENDON, DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING FOR THE YOUNGER GENERATION TO FEEL ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT, NO WHERE TO COME TOGETHER AND BE INTERESTED ABOUT WHAT GOALS TO SET IN LIFE. I FEEL THE AREA WOULD BENEFIT IF A YOUTH CENTER WAS OPENED, THE YOUNGER GENERATION COULD COME AND VISIT RATHER THAN HAVE TO KEEP CALLING AUTHORITIES OF THEM HANGING ABOUT CAUSING A NUSENCE TO OTHERS! THIS BUILDING COULD BECOME A LOCAL PLACE FOR NEW ACTIVITIES AND MEETING TO TAKE PLACE FROM!
Why is this important?
I feel this is very important to me as I have 2 younger children, when I was growing up in south ockendon we attended a youth group which kept us kids busy, many came with friends many met new friends, some learnt new lessons and many taught others lessons, it's having a place where role models still exist. Having a listening ear or someone that understands can make a huge difference to a young person's life,AND THIS PLACE CALLED OFFER THIS!
The elderly in the community have said how they fear coming outside their homes as they feel intimidated by the younger youths, the elderly should not feel this way! Having an open door with activities/ groups and crafts going on for all ages would give our community a chance to come together and meet! We do not have a cafe /Bakers in the village, having this as main income to produce many local jobs and training opportunities! I would like to see a soft play area (Not only for able bodied children, ALL children ANY disability) inside, this could help parents and carers come together and have meeting knowing their /babies and children have a soft area to play in! This building is not small and has a small garden area, conservatory,basement,and off side drive way.
