Lift the ban on khat

We as the Somali community in Great Britain would like to see the government reverse the senseless ban of khat. Khat is a stimulant plant that naturally grows in most parts of Africa and has been coming into the UK for the past 60 years. Khat has now been banned in the UK for the for the past year for no apparent reason other than political disagreement between UK and Kenya. There is no evidence to suggest that Khat possess any form of threat/danger for the communities that use this particular plant. How can the government ban a single item that is only used by two communities.

Why is this important?

Khat is not a drug and the government them selfs conducted a research that proved so. This is something that is only used for social gathering purposes.
