Parking Restrictions at Thornes Park, Wakefield

Wakefield Council have have listened and decided not to impose parking restrictions at Thornes Park, well done everyone - great teamwork!

Further to your proposals to limit parking at Thornes Park, Horbury Road, to 3 hours maximum with no return within 3 hours, we would request that the permitted parking time is increased to at least 5 hours.

Why is this important?

Many users of the Thornes Park Athletics Stadium and the park itself, regularly need more than 3 hours parking. Both Gymnastics and Bowling sessions run for 3 hours or more, changing and set up time has not been factored in, athletics meets sometimes last all day. The Council is supposed to be encouraging people to have healthy lifestyles and should not put obstacles in their way.
