Pedestrian Crossing A27/Peak Lane/Catisfield Road

Install a fully lighted pedestrian crossing across the A27 at the junction with Peak Lane and Catisfield Road.

Why is this important?

With the update works on the A27 and the forecast increase in traffic, a pedestrian crossing is desperately needed at this point. The road is being crossed regularly by pedestrians to access 4 schools, 2 pre-schools and a pub as well as normal journeys between friends and relatives. This safety feature is urgently needed and should have been included in the original upgrade plans for the A27. There is a crossing on every other major junction along this stretch of the A27 but not one at probably the most frequently used, certainly by young children.

For the safety of our children as well as parents, locals residents and those who support the local public house, please support this petition to push for the Council/Highways Authority to install a fully lighted pedestrian crossing as a matter of urgency.

I have not received any responses to questions since December last year but am still chasing with time permitting. Please see the communication updates with the council here http://www.a27crossing.uk/#290517

I am still awaiting a response from Councillor Humby to my email on 16th October. I have today emailed him asking for a response and inviting him over to join me in the school run to enable him to experience first-hand crossing the road with 2 small children.

I have printed some leaflets to put through the doors of residents in the immediate area of the crossing point but have been unable to find the time to distribute them to date. I hope to do this over the Christmas break however and then send the petition off in the New Year after hopefully having had a response to my questions from Councillor Humby.
