Prevent Development of the Green Belt in Rawnsley and Cannock Wood

We the undersigned wish to register our collective wish that Cannock Chase District Council NOT include the Options and Proposals for development in the Green Belt around the Cannock Wood and Rawnsley area in the housing solutions for the Local Plan being drafted 2018 for publication in 2021.

Why is this important?

Cannock Chase District Council has stated the vision within its Local Plan "provides a view on how Cannock Chase District may look at the end of the plan (sic 2028)". However, the landowners’ proposals show a disproportionate and aggressive housing development that will mean that the villages of Rawnsley, Cannock Wood, Hazel Slade and Prospect Village will be joined onto the wider conurbation of Cannock and Hednesford.

There is a need for housing development, shared throughout the Cannock Chase district and beyond, but providing that need by destroying green belt and annexing villages to the towns of Hednesford and Cannock, is not a sustainable or proportionate way to do this. Staffordshire is a green and pleasant landscape, with a mix of towns and villages. Please sign this petition to help persuade Cannock Chase District Council to preserve green belt and the way of life of villages in our community.
