Provide a British Sign Language interpreter for Daily Government Briefings

Provide a British Sign Language interpreter for Daily Government Briefings

Provide a British Sign Language interpreter for the Daily Government Coronavirus Briefings

Why is this important?

The Coronavirus pandemic is a global emergency and the daily Government updates are one of the most important broadcasts of our time.

That is why it is vital deaf people have access to such crucial information at this time and having a British Sign Language interpreter at the daily press conferences would make it easier for deaf people to follow at home.

Reasons for signing

  • It is important that everyone gets and understands what is being said in these briefings. May I point out that the Scottish briefings do have someone signing what the First Minister and the experts are saying.
  • I don’t see why People with a hearing impairment should have to change channels when many other governments include an interpreter as part of the regular broadcast
  • These briefings are for every single member of the public therefore should be available in a format that everyone can access.
